famous djs skrillex and fred again are hosting a massive concert in front of san francisco city hall on saturday night. >> fred again wanted to do something different and bespoke in san francisco and specifically san francisco. he picked this city of all the cities in the country to do this in. so we worked diligently to make his vision come alive. >> reporter: the surprise concert was officially announced on tuesday just five days before it was set to happen. organizers say the 25,000 tickets sold out in minutes. >> we had close to 80,000 people in queue wanting to buy tickets. >> reporter: we found one fan among the 55,000 unable to snag a ticket. she lives in san francisco and told us she walk over here just to get a peek at the stage. even though she's not able to go to the show, she says she's still happy they chose to play here.

11:15 pm

food spills, everything from apples to spilled milk. even chocolate. but this one in the bay area tonight was really gross. meat and chicken parts spilled on highway 880 in rush hour. chp says it happened because the driver did not secure the load. all of that meat and poultry caused at least four cars to spin out. it happened in the northbound lanes near oakland. police are looking for the driver responsible for the meaty mess. some unlucky workers had to plow their way through all of that. th it took hours for them to do it. the road finally reopened before 10:00. in tonight's project earth we might have another shot at seeing colorful auroras in the sky next week. this was on may

10th during a solar geomagnetic storm. there could be another one friday and saturday of next week and could create another show in the sky across the northern u.s. between idaho and new york. darren, what can you tell us about that? >> a little bit of fascinating background on that, sara, for us to understand where these things come from and why we had to wait two full weeks to suddenly hear about this again. take a look at the sun spot on the surface of the sun that caused that last aurora. you can see the dates. we're looking at two days. and if you watch, you can see the sun spot jerks back and keeps spinning. if you can see it. i just wanted to get that in and show you that the sun rotates. it takes 30 days for the sun to do one complete rotation. that sun spot went around the other side not long after we got that incredible ohr, and then everybody was like okay, it will take about two weeks, and in two weeks it will have spun around the back side of the sun and we'll see it again. we have no idea what to expect at that point. will it be as

11:17 pm

strong or will it have weakened? so what we'll do now is advance. i'll just dissolve this. it will be subtle, but i advanced to the last two days. can you see it? that's the same sun spot active region 11364. so sun spots are the source region on the sun where you've got much higher temperatures, and these are the places where giant solar flares erupt from. before this thing went around the back side of the sun, it was throwing us solar storms hitting the atmosphere at a 5 on the scale of 1 to 5. this one is likely only capable of 2. you can tell by looking at them it's shrunk, there's far less to it, the energy is far weaker. before it spun it was throwing off two solar flares a day. now it's throwing out one every two days. don't expect the next show to be really impressive, but we'll watch it and let you know. it was really

11:18 pm

cool when it did happen, and fingers crossed. now the forecast. the marine layer is coming back in tomorrow. not much, but enough to start cooling us down. we looked at the temperature drop a moment ago in terms of how much lower the temperatures are going to go for us over the next few days. all i showed you at the top of the newscast was the drop. so let me show you what tomorrow's actual daytime highs will be because a lot of us inland were in the 90s today. you're going to be in the 70s tomorrow in livermore. this is going to be a dramatic cool down if you're inland. if you're near the water, you'll not notice a change tomorrow. san francisco is a good example. oakland is a good example. your daytime highs tomorrow is pretty much identical to where you were today. and oddly enough the north bay, you might even warm up a degree or two. but any of the inland east bay valleys and santa clara valley, ten degree drop tomorrow on the daytime high. considering it was warm the last few days, that's good. enjoy it and make the most of it because the pattern is about to shift. and as we look ahead

11:19 pm

to the next few days, specifically the early and middle part of next week, we're going to see a more impressive bubble of warm air develop over the entire west than what we had yesterday when we were at the peak of this warm up. and now the numbers are really starting to show the ability to climb to the highest temperatures we've done so far this season. we're looking at wednesday here. hopefully you've gotten used to seeing this map. this is the map the national weather service started using to communicate health related impacts from the heat. if you're in the areas on red, you'll really have to pay attention on wednesday because that shows you where you've got a pretty major risk. but at the time bay area manages to avoid the worst of that. we're not even included in the excessive heat watch at this point. however, even if we're not going to be as hot as the central valley, it's going to get hot by the middle of next week. let me show you the seven-day forecast. we start with the inland microclimates. yesterday we were really putting the focus on wednesday. of course, the weekend looks great. but look
